The OCD & Anxiety Program of Southern California to train OCD therapists from Quito, Ecuador
A team of Bergen 4-Day Treatment (B4DT) experts visited Quito, Ecuador in July, 2023 to prepare a team of OCD therapists from Quito, Ecuador for training in Los Angeles in the spring of 2024. Drs. Björgvinsson, Hansen and Hagen, who are actively involved in the international dissemination of the B4DT, visited a team of psychologists from the University of San Francisco de Quito in Quito, Ecuador. The purpose of the trip was to make the B4DT available globally with the very generous support from the Kavli Trust based in Bergen, Norway.
In Norway, there are more than 50 clinics that offers the B4DT method that have served over 3,000 treatment completers. the B4DT is now also available in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Singapore, Iceland and the USA through the OCD & Anxiety Program of Southern California. Teams from Kenya, Ecuador and Australia have committed to be trained in the B4DT through our program in Los Angeles.
It will be important that the clinics in each country that receives the training is ready for the next steps. In particular, to provide effective treatment, collaborate in research, and to take on a significant part of the training of other clinicians in their local area. Through these efforts, those trained will become the trainers, thus creating a sustainable dissemination model.
